Getting Started with Stripe

Overview

Connect your Stripe account to Monk to enable seamless payment processing, automatic customer synchronization, and real-time revenue tracking. Monk's native Stripe integration provides a reliable connection for managing invoices, processing payments, and keeping your billing data in sync.

Steps

Step 1: Navigate to Integrations

Go to Integrations in the sidebar menu. You'll see the Integrations page with all available connections organized by category.

Find the Stripe card in the Banking section. If Stripe is not connected, you'll see a "Disconnected" status badge.

Step 2: Initiate the Connection

Click on the Stripe card to begin the connection process. You'll be redirected to Stripe's authorization page.

Step 3: Authorize Monk

On the Stripe authorization page:

  1. Sign in to your Stripe account (or create one if needed)

  2. Select the Stripe account you want to connect to Monk

  3. Review the permissions Monk is requesting

  4. Click Connect to authorize the connection

Step 4: Confirm Connection

After authorization, you'll be redirected back to Monk's Integrations page. You should see:

  • A success notification confirming the connection

  • The Stripe card now showing "Connected" status

  • Your Stripe Account ID displayed in the card

Step 5: Configure Stripe Settings

Click on the connected Stripe card to access advanced settings:

  1. Enable Sync - Toggle to enable automatic data synchronization between Stripe and Monk

  2. Customer Sync Rules - Configure which customers to sync:

    • Sync All Customers - Import all customers from Stripe

    • Include Only Specific Customers - Only sync customers you specify

    • Exclude Specific Customers - Sync all except specified customers

Troubleshooting

Connection Failed

Cause: authorization was denied or timed out.

Fix:

  1. Try connecting again from the Integrations page

  2. Ensure you're signed into the correct Stripe account

  3. Check that your Stripe account is fully verified

"Account Not Ready" Error

Cause: Your Stripe account doesn't meet the requirements for payment processing.

Fix:

  1. Log into your Stripe Dashboard

  2. Check for any pending verification steps

  3. Ensure charges and payouts are enabled

  4. Complete any required business information

Stripe Already Connected Error

Cause: A Stripe account is already connected.

Fix:

  • Only one Stripe account can be connected per organization

  • Contact support if you need to disconnect and reconnect a different account

Customers Not Syncing

Cause: Sync may be disabled or customer sync rules may be filtering out customers.

Fix:

  1. Go to Integrations > Stripe

  2. Ensure the sync toggle is enabled

  3. Check your Customer Sync Rules settings
